What Students & Workshop Attendees Are Saying
“I so so appreciated a discussion of sex without the framing of gender. While I’ve had many conversations about gender, that was honestly new for me. Also, I realized the biology and discussions about puberty were really a backdrop for every previous “serious”/formative conversation I’ve had about sex. I really didn’t realize how much of my own expectations and understanding of sex came from differences (anatomical or otherwise) as opposed to sameness (i.e. we’re all human and find things pleasurable!). I think most of this stems from your container of sex-positivity and generally gender-neutral discussion, and I didn’t realize how impacted by that I would be! Generally, I think the positive nature of the conversation as a whole and the affirmation that all learning should be championed really helped fight off any stigma or shame in discussing this traditionally taboo topic. Thank you.”
– Anonymous“Rachel is so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and passionate about this topic! She makes learning fun, as well as pushing me to think outside previous notions of “normal” or “the way it i.s”
– Jennifer“This is the sex-ed that would have set me up for a much more empowered sexual experience and attitude than the one I developed from my very lacking public school sex education. Rachel’s commitment to inclusivity and zeal for the topics covered in these workshops is obvious and joy-filled.”
– Mal“Would recommend this workshop a thousand percent! Both Rachel and James lead with empathy, enthusiasm, and vulnerability. They are clear and non-judgmental and give tons of helpful information. Even for individuals who think they know a ton about this topic: trust me, you will learn even more.”
– Jennifer“The workshop was a very eye-opening learning experience. Rachel & James are naturals at this!”
– Sandra“My best friend of 10 years identifies as non-binary. I always knew that something was different from the first day we met, and I have tried my best to understand. I remember the first time he (that’s his pronouns) asked me to go shopping for girl clothes with him, and seeing how happy he was wearing them made me happy. I didn’t understand so much about non-binary & with this class, I feel like I finally understand (I have so much learning to do). I sent him a text and let him know what I was learning, and he felt seen & we had a long conversation about this topic. Thank you very much for giving us the education we needed.”
– Abi“This workshop helped me understand how gender works and helped make me feel like I am not weird or unusual. I feel like I better understand myself now. I also have a broader perspective on gender and have more understanding of why people describe their genders the way they do. It also just helped me be more open-minded regarding sexuality and gender.”
– Tiffany“Sexual Health Education is JUST as important as all other forms of health education yet it is rarely talked about in an empowering way. The material is often presented through a fear-based perspective. This workshop was the opposite of that. Rachel outlined the many avenues of sexual health and how we can take easy steps to prevent and treat STIs. It was such a relief to let go of old stigmas and beliefs and reclaim the power over my own sexual health.”
– Annie“The genuineness, openness, and honesty of both Rachel & Amanda…and creating a safe space…..very invaluable!”
– Sandra“These classes are so laid back and relaxed and so informational! Not boring text book material. The hosts provide personal stories and examples to enhance the material and give new insight into the topics!”
– Alyssa“My biggest takeaway from the Overcoming Obstacles workshop was the basic fact that I’m not alone in these struggles, that everyone experiences them, and not only are they common, but there are tools to move past them. It was such a supportive learning experience.”
– Amy“Rachel and Gabby are so natural and comfortable talking about a topic that isn’t talked about, that they made a newbie (me) feel relaxed and open-minded!”
– Jenn“You both are so lovely and excellent educators. I am clearly still in a place of unlearning a lot of shame surrounding sex and all that entails. Your positivity, energy, and enthusiasm about sex, sex toys, cultivating your sexual self, and generally encouraging continued learning around sexual needs/wants are so incredibly helpful and validating. Thank you both so much for sharing your time and talent as well as making a safe space for folks to learn.”
– Anonymous“I learned a new perspective on friendships. I love how you can take away lessons from this that are not specific to sex or romance, but all relationships. I am now thinking about who and how I prioritize; I appreciate my mom more than ever for not letting me “rank” my friends as a child. This reframing was so cool. And learned a ton about polyamory of course! Especially loved hearing your personal stories. Even going through different life experiences, we can all relate to feelings of shame and pain brought on by cultural expectations and social norms; they leave lasting scars. Seeing you overcome your pain and live your most beautifully authentic life brought me to tears because I’m so happy for you (compersion!!) AND (and!) I see hope for myself, too.”
– Dominique“This workshop taught me I’m not alone.”
– Teresa“Rachel is a pillar of wisdom and knowledge and is teaching me new ways to look at relationships!”
– Sallianne“It was great to have you & Cory sort of de-mystify kink and everything involved with it. I love how much communication, trust and respect are involved in BDSM. I was a little surprised how dangerous rope is, but maybe deep down I know because that’s never appealed to me?! I LOVE how it can assist in the trauma healing process. It was also interesting to hear about the psychological aspect of BDSM. This workshop was great!!!! As were all of the others. I learned a lot and am lucky to have the replays forever!”
